Restful and Adventurous, Calming and Active, Quiet and Exciting
A spiritual and tranquil 3 mile walking trail nestled against Shadow Mountain and the lower Cahuilla Hills in Palm Desert. A place to feel calm and yet be active. Adventure off the main trail to discover the connecting trails leading to restful Valley views and the quiet cross that excites and illuminates the mountain at night.
At this point and time Shadow Mountain Trail is a concept. What is there is a dirt road that Coachella Water District uses to access the wash basin. If you walk along this dirt road you will discover that there is use of this area. You will find pet waste, sofas and mattresses along with vegetation prunings thrown into the canal.
The Desert if filled with great walking and biking paths through out the valley. Unfortunately the west side of Highway 74 lacks these whindy little paths for safe walking activities. As residents of South Palm Desert we need to take action to get the flood canals cleaned up. Taking advantage and using what we have to enchance our community and property values.
In the desert there are other cities have utilized these canal washes and have put in nice walking paths for there local residents to enjoy. In Rancho mirage we have a walking path from the park on Davall and Frank Sinatra Drive against the wash and over to Country Club Drive. In La Quinta Cove the path circles the cove and offers canopied areas of rest to enjoy the views.
:
Traffic moves at a high velocity along Edgehill Drive. With some blind spot areas it is often a dangerous place to walk to local restaurants and shops. We need to change the this. There is plenty of space to continue the sidewalk along Edgehill Drive from the newer homes and connect it with the new development and the walking bridge over to the Desert Crossing Shopping area. Our neighborhood should be a safe place for all of us, especially our kids who ride their bikes and skateboards down Edgehill Drive. >
